Guide to Exporting Vehicles to Malta from Japan

For vehicles that are being exported to importers who are not members of the Maltese Used Vehicles Importers Association

For the SVA Scheme for Malta, two kinds of inspection are defined:

• Model report inspections
• Certificate of Conformity inspections

Model report inspections

Detailed inspections carried out to establish the compliance with the requirements for Malta and to document the specifications of a vehicle type in order that the conformity of subsequent vehicles of a given type may be confirmed.

These inspections may be carried out in Malta if there are vehicles of the type to be examined already registered and in use in Malta, otherwise they may be carried out in Japan or the United Kingdom.

Fees for Model Reports

In Malta or United Kingdom: £300 (Pounds Stirling)

• Plus: Travelling Time @£55 per hour
• Plus: Travelling Expenses
• Plus: Charges for hire of test facility

In Japan: ¥65,000

• Plus: Travelling Time @ ¥12000 per hour
• Plus: Travel and subsistence expenses
• Plus: Charges for hire of test facility
